Amity Baseball: Big Win for Senior Night

The Amity High School Boys Baseball Teams’ impressive season was reassured during Monday night’s game as the Amity Spartans annihilated rival Cheshire High with a final score of 12-2, Amity.{{more}}

The defeat was conquered during the boys Senior Night at Old Tavern in Orange adding to their already victorious record of 13-2 for the season.

As 11 Amity players celebrated their Senior Night the cluster of fans and celebratory balloons proved no shortage of team spirit. Players Justin Ashworth, Michael Concato, Keith Klebart, Raymond Moquet, Christopher Katz, Samuel Nepiarsky, Dane Simone, Christopher Cimmino, Nicholas Ceneri, Sean Beaulieu, and Maxwell Ritchie were amongst the Seniors on the Spartan team.

Spartan pitcher Samuel Nepiarsky tossed an outstanding game giving up only one run through six innings and punching out 11 batters.

After the game, Nepiarsky’s record moved to an impressive 6 and 0 for the year.

“Nepiarsky played terrific during our senior night”, said Head Coach Sal Coppola. “With our pitcher being so hot we knew it was our game.”

Relief Spartan Pitcher Maxwell Ritchie also had an impressive outing when he was brought out to the mound to close for Nepiarsky.

“Our opponent helped us out slightly with errors,” said Coppola. “Pitcher Maxwell Ritchie also closed strong for us”.

Teammates Jake Russo and Christopher Katz contributed to the Spartan victory with great offense and the entire Amity squad earned their win.

The game started off competitive when Cheshire got their first two men on base.

Their hope was soon-then cut short and the score read 5-0 Amity in the bottom on the 3rd.

At the end of the game the final score read 12-2, Spartans.

With only a few games left in the regular season, The Amity Spartans look forward to finishing up their season strong.

Amity’s game on Thursday, May 9 against competitor Shelton High School will determine the winner of The Housatonic Division Championships.
