Animal Cruelty, Larcency and Road Rage top arrests

Officers responded to the Burlington Coat Factory store{{more}} for a reported shoplifter who was resisting store security’s attempts to detain him. Officers learned that the arrestee had taken $134.93 worth of clothing items from the shelves and left the store without paying. Store security employees attempted to stop him, but he pushed them out of the way and fled. Officers found him a short distance away, where he was taken into custody and charged.

Officers received a complaint of a ‘road rage’ incident that began on Orange Center Road. The complainant stated that he was driving southbound on Orange Center Road in snowy conditions when he was cut off by another vehicle. The complainant saw the vehicle pull into a nearby gas station, so he stopped there as well to obtain the vehicle’s license plate number. When the cited party saw that his plate number was being recorded, he confronted the complainant and yelled profanities at him in the parking lot of the gas station. He was cited with an infraction ticket for his actions.

Officers served two arrest warrants on the above listed party after he was picked up at the New Haven Superior Court on an unrelated matter. The first charge stemmed from an incident in June when officers responded to a private residence on Taulman Road and found a sick and malnourished dog inside. The dog was turned over to animal control authorities; a warrant was obtained for the dog’s owner and served on this date. The second charge was due to the arrestee’s failure to appear in court on previous motor vehicle charges.
