Financial support for this project was provided by Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). DEEP’s grant funding covered the $10,000 purchase of the pedestal EV charging station which was installed by Milford’s Department of Public Works.

Installation at the library will allow easy access for residents, as well as for the many visitors of Milford’s downtown.

“The addition of a publicly accessible EV charging station here in Milford strengthens Milford’s commitment to sustainable energy sources and encourages residents to consider alternate fuel vehicles. I applaud DEEP for their continued commitment to this program,” said Blake in a press release.

The installation of an EV charging station here in Milford contributes to the network of stations throughout Connecticut, allowing all state residents to confidently travel knowing there will be options for recharging. In 2013, Governor Malloy teamed up with seven other states and set the goal of putting 3.3 million zero emission vehicles on the road by 2025. DEEP has released several rounds of funding with this goal in mind, and Connecticut now has over 300 publicly accessible charging stations.

To support owners of electric vehicles, the new charging station is now available free of charge, 24/7.
