Lushe’s Diner Restaurant Catering For All Occasions

The first time we visited Lushe’s diner, was to try their Monday to Friday breakfast special for $3. We were very impressed; two eggs, cooked to order, toast, home fries, and coffee. I did not want the fries so they substituted with fresh fruit. {{more}}

While we were waiting for our food to arrive we looked through the breakfast menu. Listed were many morning treats such as International omelets. In addition there was an impressive variety of pancakes, such as buttermilk, blueberry, chocolate chip and you could also order French toast, waffles, and crepes.

Any of these meals can be served with a side order of corned beef hash, turkey sausage, Canadian style bacon, salsa, or ham priced accordingly.

Lushes’ has a very attractive interior décor. The blue tile floors in the main dining room are beautiful and the shinning hardwood floors in the side dining areas stand out.

Our second visit weeks later was for dinner. Specials included; homemade meatloaf, Mayan style chicken, linguine in a white butter sauce, penne ala vodka, shrimp and scallops alfredo and many more.

They also serve burgers, wraps, and sandwiches served cold, or hot along with a large variety of appealing salads.

For starters we ordered an appetizer. Our choice was their homemade spinach pie. Then we ordered the early bird special dinner for two. Robert ordered broiled pork chops with applesauce, potato of the day and seasonal vegetables. This also came with a small house salad. My order was their homemade stuffed red pepper which contained onions, rice and beef. Because it was a cold evening I traded my salad for beef barley soup.

When the spinach pie arrived it was hot, flaky, and filled with delicious spinach and large enough for the two of us to share.

Next my soup came to the table served piping hot, seasoned with carrots, celery, barley and beef in a light tomato sauce. It was excellent and had great flavor. Robert’s salad was served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, red peppers, olives and cucumbers dressed with oil and vinegar.

After finishing our soup and salad, the broiled pork chops, were brought to the table. They were meaty, moist and cooked to perfection. My dinner was the stuffed pepper which had a sweet red pepper taste, generously stuffed with a light tomato sauce for a full flavored experience in taste. Their portions were very generous and tasty.

Our meals were very good and reasonable however we were disappointed in the service we received. We had asked for bread which we never received. We asked for extra napkins which we never received and Robert wanted some cheese for his salad.

I had also wanted some for my barley soup. We were handed a shaker with hardend cheese at the bottom which you could not shake out, then we noticed it was passed to another table.

During our meal we were handed the check not asking if we wanted any coffee or dessert which we always desire to end our meal with. We settled for one slice of New York Cheesecake and requested extra whipped cream which we never received.

Even though our meals were good the atmosphere was spoiled by our waitress not being attentive and caring to our needs. The restaurant was not very busy on this particular evening and we certainly are not demanding customers.

Would we return – Yes! Our meals were very tasty and satisfying. We hope on our next visit the wait staff will be more professional and attentive, so we can enjoy a better dining experience.
