Milford Garden Club To Host Program On Organic Gardening

The Milford Garden Club is hosting a discussion Feb. 12 called “Creating an Organic Ecosystem in your Backyard” with speaker Nancy Du Brule-Clemente, owner of Natureworks Horticultural Services in Northford.

Natureworks staff and retail store have used only organic fertilizers and pest control products since they started in 1983. Education about organic gardening is the primary focus of Natureworks, which uses multimedia to spread the word about organic practices.

Du Brule-Clemente graduated from the Ratcliffe Hicks School of the University of Connecticut with a degree in floriculture. She is the author of two gardening books and is presently on the board of the Connecticut Nurserymen’s Foundation.

The program begins at 1 p.m. at the Daughters of the American Republic building at 55 Prospect St. in Milford. There will be a $5 guest fee. Potential members and guests are welcome. Anyone with any interest in gardening can join the Milford Garden Club. You don’t have to be a master gardener.
