Back To Health: You Only Have One Spine, So Take Good Care of It!

Did you know your spine allows you to do almost everything you do?

Proper spinal function allows the body to perform optimally.

Poor spinal function inhibits performance, and causes not just pain, but effects digestion, immune system, and organ function – something that most people rarely notice happening until it’s too late.{{more}}

Your spine works in a very complex way that you’ve probably never thought twice about, from getting out of bed, driving to work, and performing your daily routine each day.

Not only does your spine perform mechanical functions, but it also facilitates proper nerve flow.

Your spine consists of 24 bones, called vertebrae. Each movement of your vertebrae is choreographed through the rest of your body via a wonderfully designed system of muscles and ligaments that work together.

Your spine also has 31 pairs of spinal nerves that exit your spinal column. The nerves inside and around your spine are protected and function comfortably when your vertebrae moves within their normal range.

When the spinal bones are out of alignment, called subluxations, the nerves become irritated or inflamed.

This ultimately impacts the nerve flow to the vital organs throughout your body resulting in dysfunction and sickness.

Your body will sometimes warn you when your spine is not functioning normally.

This warning will come in the form of pain, discomfort, stiffness or a lack of function in your spine or extremities.

Rather than addressing the problem, some people ignore their body’s warnings by taking pain-relievers.

The body puts the spine in a state of spasm to protect the nerves and allow the inflammatory process to subside. Removing the pain often causes more problems because the body’s protective mechanism has been removed. It’s similar to pulling out the wire to the check engine light when a warning light comes on. The light is not visible, but the problem remains and will continue to get worse.

Unfortunately, there are many cells and organs in the body that do not send out any alarms to alert us that they are not functioning at 100 percent capacity.

If a subluxation continues undetected, the organ(s) may suffer great damage, yet we won’t even be aware of it! If you wait until your body sends out pain or other clear signals, it may be too late.

What to do? All of these deviations from normal often can be corrected with specific spinal adjustments and proper corrective exercises if detected early.

When you do experience pain, recognize that your body is communicating a problem and address that problem immediately but also beware that there may be no symptoms.

Getting regular adjustments keeps your spine healthy; functioning properly and most importantly helps to keep your body functioning optimally.
